Terri Goodwin
2-D Mixed MeDIA
Terri Goodwin is a Seattle artist best known for combining her handcrafted ceramic tile with concrete resulting in unique mixed media artworks suitable for hanging in multiple environments. After earning a BA in Design from UCLA she spent her early career as a graphic designer for small companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle while continuing to explore hands-on creative work. Terri’s experiences in mosaic led to a desire to create her own ceramic tiles and cast them directly into concrete, setting them apart and calling attention to their unique shapes and bright glazes. In 2010 she founded Bright River Studio as a place to combine her passion for tile and concrete with the inspiration of the Pacific Northwest.
Terri hand forms ceramic tile using a variety of sculpting techniques. She casts plaster molds of her designs, allowing her to invest more attention to detail. Some of her offerings are “one off” carvings. Each tile is hand glazed by her in a variety of colors. Completed tiles are embedded into concrete using her custom silicone molds. A copper wire cast in the back results in a durable piece of wall art ready to hang indoors or out. She’s also offering a small line of ceramic garden pots.
