Shino Mikami is a Seattle-based screenprint artist passionate about sustainable living and Pacific NW nature, especially birds — with a hint of her Japanese heritage showing in her design aesthetics as well. Her company name uzura, Japanese for 'quail,' comes from the little pet button quails they keep as pets. Her designs show an appreciation of the natural world and are presented on women's and men's apparel in eco-conscious materials. Her goal is to introduce the awareness of green materials such as hemp, organic cotton and bamboo to a wide range of customers through her original nature-inspired designs.
Shino’s uzura line of women's apparel and men's t-shirts are all screen-printed by hand on soft organic cotton, hemp, bamboo and eco-friendly materials. They feature her all-original designs showing scenes from Pacific NW nature along with aesthetic hints of her Japanese heritage.
