Flight Paths: How a Passionate and Quirky Group of Pioneering Scientists Solved the Mystery of Bird Migration

Wild Arts Festival Book Fair welcomes back Rebecca Heisman, a freelance science writer based in eastern Washington and author of the acclaimed book, Flight Paths: How a Passionate and Quirky Group of Pioneering Scientists Solved the Mystery of Bird Migration. Only recently have we been able to fully understand why and how birds travel from continent to continent, flying thousands of miles across the earth in autumn and spring. Rebecca’s book tells the story of how an eccentric group of ornithologists, engineers, and other scientists employed various technological developments of the last hundred years to fully understand bird migration in detail. This is a fascinating book about how we know what we know about bird migration! Rebecca has written and done other communications work for organizations including the Audubon Society, the American Bird Conservancy, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the Wilson Ornithological Society, and the American Ornithological Society. Come meet her at WAF on Saturday, December 7th. Please check the official signing schedule published by Bird Alliance of Oregon in case of changes before you head out.
