Meet the Artist

Fretta Cravens

PHOTOGRAPHY

Fretta's photography of botanicals is created using a high end flatbed scanner. All images are created in one layout session. The images are cleaned up in Photoshop for dust, pollen and minor imperfections. The images are limited edition archival dye pigments prints printed by the artist in her studio.

Fretta’s love of nature, art and beauty was instilled in her at a young age, as she grew up playing in fields of wildflowers in Oklahoma and Texas while experiencing her Grandmother Mae’s continuous stream of creativity. Her love for photography began with her father’s camera in the 60’s. In college, she was inspired by the expansive works of Georgia O’Keefe and went on to receive a Bachelors in Fine Arts at The University of Texas, Arlington, majoring in Drawing, Paper Making and Photography with minors in Art History and Psychology . Fretta’s love of art has been a constant in her life and she has continued to study in Portland at the Drawing Studio, The Oregon College of Arts and Crafts, and Newspace Center for Photography. Fretta enjoys exhibiting at art festivals, as they give her the opportunity to educate and encourage young artists and share her philosophy with a wider audience.
