Barry Locke

Portland Renaissance: When Creativity Redefined a City

The Wild Arts Festival Book Fair welcomes Barry Locke with his first book, Portland Renaissance: When Creativity Redefined a City. A professional writer with 40 years of experience in journalism, marketing, communications, and advertising, Barry brings his story- telling talents to recreating the Portland of the mid-1980’s and 90’s. It was a time in the city’s history defined by growth in advertising, athletic wear, and craft brewing industries, when Portland transformed itself into a mecca for foodies and artists and became a model of urban living. A transplant to Portland from San Francisco, Barry’s career includes working for some of the companies that contributed to the city’s transformation. While researching Portland’s history for Portland Renaissance Barry interviewed close to fifty Portlanders influential in the period.  Long-time Portlanders and those new to the city will enjoy reading this part of its past.

Visit Barry at the Book Fair on Saturday, December 7th. Please check the official signing schedule published by Bird Alliance of Oregon in case of changes before you head out.
