Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon seeking submissions for catio tour

By Monique Balas

Do you have the coolest catio in Portland? If so, the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon wants to know about it.

The FCCO, in partnership with the Audubon Society of Portland, is hosting a tour of backyard outdoor cat enclosures (known as “catios”), and the organizations seek submissions of local catios to feature.

The date is still to be determined, but the tour will be held for four hours on a Saturday or Sunday in late summer.

The goal of the event is to educate the public about how outdoor cat enclosures can keep birds and other wildlife safe from feline predators. Meanwhile, they offer Fluffy a safe way to exercise while protecting her from cars, predators, poisons and other outdoor hazards.

If you have a catio that you think should be featured, send an e-mail with the following information to info@feralcats.com:

  • Name of the catio owner
  • Phone number and address
  • Brief description of the catio
  • One to three photos

Visit feralcats.com for more information.
